Everybody knows who James Dean is, right? Hugely famous young star of the 1950’s who’s influenced men’s fashion, hair styles and attitudes for the last 50 years. Well, did you know this but he was only in three films and died at the age of 24?

Dean’s cultural following is testament to his talent and style. It’s amazing that he was only in the public sphere for a few years, yet he’s as relevant today as ever (check out Robert Pattinson and James Franco). Old school hero Humphrey Bogart said of dean that he “died at just the right time. Had he lived, he’d never have been able to live up to his publicity.” February marks 50 years since Dean’s unfortunately early death so there’s a lot on the icon floating around the media at the moment (notably a piece in Shortlist magazine).
Baracuta, the highly respectable Harrington Jacket makers have a new release in timing with this. The 1950’s style G-35 ‘Dean’ Windcheater hits the stores soon and would make a lovely addition to any retro-styled wardrobe. Also available here.
I’m informed that it’s available in two colours, Natural Stone and Red, but their site only seems to have them in stone at the moment. Nonetheless, Baracuta has built it’s reputation on heritage and quality, so I’m sure it’s a fine number. You’ll pay for it though - £99.
Thanks to Baracuta for the image
